Nyctalopia, perfume, decay, odor
Sadness inspires decadence
Beauty makes one feel jaded
Temptation defeats rejection

Love is hypocritical. It feigns vehemence
But just a pickup line entails farewell
leaving me alone in the late night, typing and emailing, only to be painting a dark screen [meaning that emailing someone entails no reply]

Loneliness is so considerate. It follows me everywhere

Your face in my dream
That distance never changes

The past is grey
while the pain is away

The night that belonged to us
has crumbled and gone with the wind
Want to hear your voice, but I can’t
But I can’t
Lala lala lalala
La lala la lala lala

No longer in my heart
Nothing to miss about in this immortal world
Stopped checking or asking if the fate
was against us in the first place

In the mispent life, the time can never be retrieved
So what in the world was left behind
It doesn’t matter anymore

(How-Zhang Xuan)

Zhang Xuan

(Composer: Zhang Xuan)
(Lyricist: Zhang Xuan)
(Singer: Zhang Xuan)
(How-Zhang Xuan)

How would you forgive stupidity in the past and present
How would you make peace with the efforts that remain unheard
After the painstaking efforts, watch the eternity of tides ebbing and flowing
Time is here, as cool as silk, but it can still burn and hurt
Youth is a river flowing afar

How would you make peace with the process that time has missed
How would you stay calm when that happens
How would you be able to think but not to ask
And I’m waiting right right here
for a drenched heart to hear the drizzle
and for the body temperature to return to normal

Ha ah~~

In the city, the night is like an ocean
All the windows, lit or dimmed at this moment
are vague yet not fake

How would you see off the wanderer who has to keep wandering
How would you let fate stay the way it is
How would you gaze at each and every way it looks at us

而我
And I
而我
and I
不停的
incessantly
have no regret

与你的
[For] the bond with you
总有的
will always stay

(Between the Mountains and the Sea-Spring and Autumn Band)

Founded in 2000, Spring and Autumn Band (Chunqiu) is named after the period of Chinese history lasting from 771 BC to 551 BC—a time plagued by political upheaval and internecine warfare, but also an era of tremendous development in China’s philosophical traditions. Although it is a heavy metal band, Spring and Autumn incorporates the elements of traditional Chinese music into its music style. The band advocates for abiding by the laws of Nature and maintaining balance in and outside the world of music. “Between the Mountains and the Sea” is included in the band’s 2006 album Spring and Autumn.

(Composer: Yang Meng)
(Lyricist: Yang Meng)

Calling out to the Sea

wǒ de shēng yīn zǒng bèi làng pái chuān
my voice is always overwhelmed by the waves

màn màn fú shì tú
Throughout this long long journey in the mundane world

cháng gē sòng bēi huān
I sing incessantly to see off happiness and sorrow

CHORUS

wǒ qī dài zhē yī shùn jiān
I’m looking forward to this moment

nà huì shì líng gǎn pēn sǎ
That would be a night when inspiration spurts and spills

fàn yīn huà jìn tòng kǔ yǔ bēi shāng
The overtones would disslove pains and sadness

[Note: Overtones refer to Buddhist overtone chanting.]

líng tīng zì jǐ de mài luō yǔ xīn xián
Listen to my own impulses and the voice of my heart

wǒ zài shān hǎi jiān zuò wàng
I sit still, meditating between the mountains and the sea

[Note: 坐忘 (zuò wàng) is a Buddhist concept of consciously reorganizing one’s perception of self and world.]

gǎn shòu zhè kuān guǎng de shí kōng yǔ suǒ ài
[and] feeling this broad time and space as well as what I love

wú lùn nǎ fāng huì shì zhēn de bǐ àn
No matterh which direction will lead to the real other shore

[Note: In Buddhism, 彼岸 (bǐ àn) the other shore refers to the state that transcends the concerns of life and death.]

(The Last Blossom-Xiao Jingteng/Jam Hsiao)

曲:C. Y. Kong (Composer: C. Y. Kong)
(Lyricist: Lin Xi)

The original singer of this song is Faye Wong.

Every ant has two eyes and a nose
Is it beautiful? The difference is less than 1 millimeter
What does it matter?

Every person cries when hurt
[and] eats when hungry. Ain’t that different like the heaven and the earth
How thrilling can it be?

There’s way too much magic, way too little logic
way too many games, just for the sake of curiosity
Just what else deserves such hysteria?
and to what do you have to be so committed?

Each and every idol, is just so so
All the idol you obsessed over, disappeared one by one
Who was against reason and just who is God?
What kind of miracle are we waiting for?

In the end the only one you’re not willing to pick on is yourself
And in the very end you won’the respect yourself, you either
I would doubt whoever that offers me the whole world
My heart bloomed with wild joy, but it would eventually become the last blossom in Spring

REPEAT

One and one yet another one, who is more beautiful?
One and one yet another one, who is sweeter?
One and one yet another one, whose life is easier?
And what’s the big deal?

REPEAT THE ABOVE VERSE

Every ant, no matter who it brushes by
is still neat and tidy, but what does that matter?
Everyone, upon meeting the people they love,
has a lingering fear

(One Half-Ding Dang)

(Composer: Yu Heng)
(Lyricist: Guan Qiyuan)
(Singer: Ding Dang)

[I have] the pal for drinks, the pal for movies
the pal for all the three meals
Friends can’t stay too late
They have to go to work tomorrow

[I have] the pal for Karaoke, the pal for travelling
the pal who understands my jokes
But my life will be perfect if I have the one

CHORUS:

When happiness is left to one person alone, happiness dwindles to only one half
Even when you drink a bowl of soup, your heart will still not be warm enough
This bed sheet—this bed
However cozy it is, it feels too broad

When there is nobody to share, happiness dwindles to only one half
Even if I make myself busy every day
holidays will remind me how lonely I actually am

I have no ideas, but what difference would it make if I have some ideas?
I can only blog all night long
Those few comments will never alleviate my grief
Having no burdern is also a burden
Having too much freedom is a source of anxiety
You envy me, then would you exchange your burden for my freedom?

CHORUS

When there is nobody to share, happiness dwindles to only one half
even if I make myself busy every day
Don’t remind me how lonely I actually am

CHORUS

When there is nobody to share, happiness dwindles to only one half
even if I make myself busy every day
Nobody knows how lonely I am
